A Testimony of Sacrifice and Perseverance

It was 100% worth it! Every sacrifice. Every delayed luxury. Every moment. Every stretch. I would do it all again without hesitation. Our kids are stronger because of it.

I am writing this testimony because we have finally crossed the finish line of a goal that has consumed our focus, prayers, faith, and sacrifice for the last several years.

This week, we made our final payment to St. Paul’s.

I still remember sitting in church years ago thinking to myself, “If I could just get my kids into St. Paul’s, they would have a real opportunity at a better future.”

Then I ran the numbers.  And on paper… it made absolutely no sense.  There was no extra money. No comfortable margin. No logical explanation for how it would work.  But by then, it was too late.  God had already placed a vision in my heart and a five-year plan for my children’s lives.  So we took a step of faith and started moving in that direction.  And to be honest, it stretched us to capacity.

Sometimes people think that because we attend a faith church, speak the Word, and trust God, life will somehow become easy. That we won’t face storms, pressure, sacrifice, or impossible situations.  But faith was never the absence of storms.  Storms will come, and storms will go — but we are never alone in them.  When we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, there are moments we suddenly realize we are doing what once seemed impossible. We are walking on water.

It was hard.  We had to make uncomfortable sacrifices. I postponed driving the car I wanted and drove an old beater that was basically held together by prayer. We postponed vacations, upgrades, and a lot of the “stuff” our culture tells us is important.  And yes — God is faithful, and those things can come later.  But there was a greater vision in front of us.

We chose purpose over comfort.  And our children saw it.  They saw the sacrifices. They saw the commitment. They saw that their future mattered enough for us to stretch, believe, and keep going when it would have been easier to quit.  On top of all of that, we faced an overwhelming amount of unexpected medical expenses along the way.

But somehow…  We made it.

This is the first time I have been able to stop, breathe, and reflect from the other side of the journey. And I can say with absolute confidence: It was 100% worth it!

Every sacrifice.  Every delayed luxury.  Every stressful moment.  Every painful stretch.  I would do it all again without hesitation.  Our kids are stronger because of it.

The enemy will always try to whisper the lie that you cannot afford to invest in your children’s future. He will tell you that the money would be better spent on a nicer car, a truck, a boat, or a more comfortable lifestyle.  And yes — unexpected expenses will come.  But here is the truth: We always make adjustments for what we truly value.

Sometimes the greatest gift you can give your children is not comfort, entertainment, or possessions.  Sometimes the greatest gift is sacrifice.  Sometimes it is putting them first and refusing to quit until the vision God gave you becomes reality.  Once again, on paper, the numbers never worked.  But God was faithful every single step of the way.

And standing here today, on the other side of the journey, I can testify that faith, sacrifice, perseverance, and obedience can produce a harvest far greater than temporary comfort ever could.  Do not underestimate what God can do through parents who are willing to believe big, sacrifice deeply, and stay faithful to the vision He placed in their hearts.
